Indiana Couple Settles Dog Bite Lawsuit For More Than $200,000.

In many personal injury cases, the victim will be left with some sort of visible injury as a result of the incident. But an 11 year-old who was recently attacked by a dog was not left with any physical deformities. However, he reportedly suffers from injuries that are not visible, but can affect an individual for the rest of their lives, such as being forced to live in fear of being attacked again by a dog who is supposed to be man’s best friend. Our team of expert dog bite attorneys here at our Boston, Massachusetts law firm have been nationally recognized for our exceptional work in personal injury cases. We have strived diligently to help our Commonwealth clients recover millions of dollars in compensation over the past three decades.

A Brazil, Indiana couple has achieved more than $200,000 in settlements after a police dog bit their son during a school field trip to a courtroom. Public records show that Michael and Gabriel Abbott of Brazil, Indiana have recently reached out-of-court settlements of $105,000 from the state of Indiana and $80,000 from the city of Brazil. The couple had sued Clay Superior Court Judge Blaine Akers, the city of Brazil and the Brazil Police Department. The lawsuit alleged that their son, Jaxon, then 11 years-old, was placed in unnecessary danger in Judge Akers’ courtroom in 2013 when police placed marijuana on some students. The drug-sniffing dog then bit Jaxon’s leg before being forcibly pried off of the boy by officers. The lawsuit said the boy suffered scarring and nerve damage.
